Five Figure Fanwork Exchange

FFFX

Dear creator,

I’m extremely excited about this! Firstly, I want to say that my prompts are merely suggestions, and I’m happy for you to go off in a direction you think of if you are instead inspired by one of my likes or if there’s a seed of an idea in the prompts but you want to look at it from a different angle. I also have plenty of past letters that can be plundered for prompts, but please only use this letter for DNWs as they have changed over time.

Secondly, I’m hoping any of my prompts are usable for comic storylines as well as fiction. I’ve included my general art likes below, but, generally, anything I like in fic, I like in sequential art!

Thirdly, if you want to go completely off-road and write or draw a wagon’s worth of smut for a fandom that I’ve requested a / ship for? You go for it! I’d be just as delightful as I would be with something plotty or pure, undiluted angst. This is a long-haul exchange, so I’m mostly just excited about you having a good time for the creation period!

***Things I like in horror: please see my Holiday Horror and Multifandom Horror lists for both horror tropes I like and horror canons I enjoy and wouldn’t mind seeing emulated or pastiched.

Art Likes

I like a wide variety of art! Yeah, very helpful, I know, but I really do! Bold colours, black & white/greyscale, jewel tones, dark neons.

I love interesting compositions and perspectives, and shots that feel like the characters were caught in the moment — intimacy, basically. I really like dark and angsty or intimate and intense vibes, or any kind of creeping dread or tentative atmospheres.

I love size differences emphasised in less traditional ways: the larger partner kneeling in front of the smaller one; big muscular women with huge hands clutching their smaller partner; small love interests threatening their bigger partner etc. But I also like the traditional ways too, with men with large hands holding their smaller partner, people leaning down to kiss their partner, the smaller person up on tip toes to kiss their partner etc. etc.

Size difference isn’t all I like, though! I also like intimacy in all its forms (sexual or non-sexual), interesting lighting, things that look both dangerous and sexy, anyone kneeling for anything, hand-holding (in any circumstance, but especially in sex), blood, characters who can’t bare to look at the person giving them pleasure, torture scenes, and anything that shows angst. Small moments of intimacy captured in larger stories is nice. Hurt/comfort is always, always a winner. But also, I don’t know dick about art, so whatever you think is best probably is!

I don’t have specific art-related DNWs. I have more specific ideas in my individual prompts below that can (I hope) be adapted for art, but yeah, I’m pretty open to whatever way the wind takes you! Any rating is fine, also.

The Folk of the Air

Where to Find:
3 books: The Cruel Prince (385 pages), The Wicked King (369 pages) and The Queen of Nothing (321 pages), for a total of 1,075 pages.
There is also supplemental material in the form of a novelette and a novella, respectively: The Lost Sisters (from Taryn’s perspective, 49 pages) and How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories (post-canon, Cardan’s POV, 138 pages).
All page counts approximate and based on ebooks. The audiobooks for all are great too.

For both of all of these requests, I’m open to any background pairings. I’m a big fan of Jude/Cardan and find Taryn/Locke compelling, I love Heather/Vivi (especially anything that touches on the Memory Incident) and enjoy the barest glimpses we get of Eva/Justin and Eva/Madoc. But I don’t mind non-canon pairings either. Full gen for the requests its appropriate for, or ship-focused only for the ship request is also very welcomed!

>>> Eva Duarte & Jude Duarte

I can’t tell you how much I love Jude as a character. Anyone willing to burn even herself to the ground to achieve her goals is an instant OTC for me. I love how headstrong she is, in how bad faith she takes everyone’s behaviour, how she plunges headfirst into everything and always goes for the nuclear option as if it were the only one.

And I’m so intrigued by Eva. She married a faerie, and then risked her life to escape him. I wish so much that I could see these two characters interact, and to see how similar or different they are. I am especially fond of stories where people discover their parents aren’t who they seem — it’s something I really liked about Steven Universe, for instance. We already kind of get that with Justin, who is the reason they got caught in their escape, but I want to see if it holds true for Eva.

This is a win-win scenario, though: there’s awful terrible angst if she’s not all Jude thought her to be. But there’s heartbreaking grief and angst if she turns out to be all Jude could imagine, but she’s still lost to her. There’s really no way to be disappointed!

Quick prompts: Time travel and time loops! Ghosts! Came back wrong-ness. Vampires? Magical mirrors or other objects! Or stories told in parallel!

Those same prompts, in more detail:
- I’d love time loops where Jude is sent back in time and tries to save her mother during the brutal prologue, failing in different ways.
- Or perhaps Jude tries to stop her from absconding with Justin (even if that means Jude would never be born — at least her mother might live and Vivienne would have her). I especially love time loops that end with the looper realising there is no way to "fix" what they are trying to fix.
- Regular time travel! Them interacting would be lovely. Jude would need to hide her identity, but would Eva recognise her anyway, or feel something? Would she be surprised to learn what her mother (and father) were like? Or shocked at what Eva & Madoc’s relationship really looked like?
- The ghost of her mother returns and starts haunting her, and it’s starting to drive her mad.
- The ghost of her mother returns with vital information, to save Jude, one of her sisters, Cardan, the kingdom etc. etc. I like stakes big or small! But I like the idea of her solving the mystery or protecting whoever needs protecting, and her knowing that will result in her losing her mother again.
- Some kind of curse in Elfhame results in her mother coming back, and she Comes Back Wrong. I would especially like how her sisters might react to this. And what would Madoc think? Hard decisions having to be made about whether to let her live or die would be grand.
- Vampires! Okay I don’t really have much more for this prompt, I just really like vampires and will insert them wherever.
- I really love the scene where Jude sees her mother in the river, with Madoc. I would like more of that kind of interaction, whether it be via the same river, or by another enchanted item.
- Stories told in parallel is something I always love. I would like to contrast and compare Jude and Eva’s personalities, especially as we don’t know a huge amount about Eva, except as everyone else saw her. The two stories being tied by some emotional resonance would be grand.

>>> Group: Taryn/Nicasia

Taryn, Taryn, Taryn. She is such an interesting character. I love seeing how differently she learnt to adapt to Elfhame contrasted with her sister. And how much that ends up failing her, until she finds some of her own strength. I love her journey a lot, and I’m intensely interested in her inner-workings. I like what we get in The Lost Sisters, for instance!

And Nicasia is just the kind of character I can’t resist: classic mean-girl! A hottie who will sooner kill you then care for you. We only ever really hear about her in relation to Locke or Cardan and I would like to see more. What is it like to be loved by her? Or just lusted after over? How do her particular cruelties intersect with Taryn’s insecurities? And how do Taryn’s traits intersect with Nicasia’s weaknesses?

There’s a lot of potential for some dark femslash here, but I’m also happy to see other interpretations if you have them. Setting is not important to me, because I love them all — Taryn in the Undersea, both in Elfhame, Nicasia in the mortal world. I love to see them move through their worlds!

Quick prompts: Porn! Infidelity! Noncon! Covering up a murder! Enemies to lovers! Soulmates. A/B/O. Sex pollen! Vampires!

Those same prompts, in more detail:
- Okay, this one is a little vague but this is basically my way of saying "5-10k/5-10 pages of PWP would be grand". Or relationship studies with fucky dynamics via porn etc. Etc.
- Infidelity is a great love of mine, and I love the idea of Taryn rebelling like that, or finding solace from Locke. It would surely be terrible solace, but that’s what makes it so enticing! It’s not like Taryn has had much experience with good affection to be able to identify healthy choices.
- Equally, Nicasia seducing Taryn as revenge over Locke leaving her would be very fun?
- Noncon has a lot of possibilities here. Instead of the above prompt, for instance, have it be noncon. Or let the Nicasia take advantage when Taryn is vulnerable. Have Taryn think she’s made a friend, only for that friend to noncon her. Have Nicasia want to humiliate Taryn in front of her suitor or friends.
- Nicasia turns up on Taryn’s doorstep the very night she’s murdered to Locke. Can Taryn trust her? Does she have a choice? What does Nicasia think, after all that has happened between them? Does it change her view on Taryn at all, to see her kill a fae?
- Enemies-to-lovers is a classic for a reason and it’s not like Folk of the Air was hurting for it but I want more. I really like seeing Nicasia’s abrasive nature rub up against other characters and I think Taryn would be a good foil. How do they begin to connect? What is the turning point from hatred to attraction, or is there no complete turn? Enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies or enemies-to-lovers-who-are-still-enemies are both very welcome here.
- Soulmate AUs are always a lot of fun and I think it’d be interesting to see it here; do both mortals and fae get them? How do Taryn and Nicasia work out they are each other’s? Do they try to make it work, or do they try to fight it? What is her reaction to being soulmates with a mortal girl? Do either of them die before they’re able to figure it out?
- I have a preference for Nicasia an alpha, but I don’t mind Taryn as either an omega — or a beta, either because the rules still apply to mortals, or functionally a beta because only fae have A/B/O traits. I’m happy with girl!penis here, but prefer for it not to be a "knot" so much as just a penis. Futa is good with me. I would love to see how this would affect their stations in life.
- Sex pollen in the sense of fae fruit (does Nicasia drug her on purpose? Is it during a revelry? Is it just something that goes too far? Is it another kind of sex pollen in Elfhame, that perhaps affects Nicasia too (or only Nicasia?). One or both dosed, either is good with me!
- Vampires! Again, haven’t really got a longer prompt for this, I just like vampires, if you have any ideas, run wild.

>>> Other: Worldbuilding

This is such a rich world and I would love to see more! I don’t have a lot to say here, because I’m not particularly picky about what you concentrate on. I’ve given suggestions below, but if there is any aspect of the world that is interesting to you, feel free to explore it. I will always be happy to see that.

And if you don’t want to include characters, if you want to do ephemeral or epistolary, or in-universe documents or books or photos, or any interesting or strange choices, you go for it. Don’t be held back!

For the Modern Faerie Tales lore: I have read the first two books, but a very long time ago and I don’t remember much, so you can bring in or leave out whatever you want from those. So don’t feel beholden to them, but if you do want to include stuff, that’s cool too!

Quick prompts: History! Undersea! Different rulers! Other mortals in fae! Fae in the mortal world! Seedy underbellies! Common folk! Professions! Markets! Food!

Those same prompts, in more detail:
- The history of Elfhame! Both family histories of the Greenbriars, especially when Eldred was alive, or more microhistories, either would be amazing. Families whose houses have risen and fallen, histories of different Courts, histories of certain practices or rituals.
- The Undersea is something we only get flavours of, and the only time we really spend there is when Jude is imprisoned. I’d love to hear how different the Undersea is from the rest of Elfhame, as the taste we get is quite alien. Interacting with other Courts is also fun, as is any wildlife.
- Different rulers! Who ruled before the Greenbriars? Or the rulers of other Courts and their power struggles! Ancient history is fine here too. Or, heck, even how Eldred changed over the course of his long rule.
- We see other mortals in Elfhame sometimes, but not in great detail — we have the Eldred’s lover, and we have the many mortals who are put under gaes, plus we know that sometimes girls are kidnapped to play at Queen of Mirth. I would love to hear more — stories of how they get there, are there mortals who manage to reach esteem? What is it like being the lover of a faerie if you did not grow up in Elfhame? And, how does it feel for the girls who are under gaes?
- Fae in the mortal world also fascinate me, since even they seem to hold some disgust for humans! Tell me more about them, why some of the decide to go, what exiles they might be under, and what lives they manage to forge there. Like I said, I have read the first two books in the Modern Faerie Tales trilogy, but my memory is vague, so I don’t mind those details being done away with.
- Who doesn’t love a seedy unbelly? Show me the black markets, show me the gambling dens, show me the places where fae go to get their kicks. You can get as dark with this as you like, or keep it light.
- Common folk are just as interesting as the high court! We see Cardan sometimes interact with them, like the musicians who claim their lyre was stolen. I want to know more! How do people feel about their new King & Queen, at any point in canon? What is the daily toll like? What ways do they make their living?
- And, indeed, that last question leads me to: professions! Clearly they have them. Do they apprentice? Are any of them birthrights? Do some professions in Elfhame bring shame? How do the fae abilities factor into the professions chosen? This too could include the spymasters, who are fascinating to me and I’d be happy to see more from them.
- I love markets so much and I love the glimpses we get in Queen of Nothing of Elfhame’s. I love that it is a confluence of people and products from far reaches, each infused strongly with the flavour of the merchant. I love the press of bodies, the haggling, the smells and tastes and touches. I will happily read about markets in any form, in any way you see fit.
- Last but not least — food! I love food in fiction, it says so much about a place. What are the different delicacies of Elfhame? What of them affect mortals and fae differently? What are their histories? Are certain ingredients rare or forbidden, and how might an enterprising merchant or cook acquire them? Who does all the catering for these lavish parties? What happens to the food after? What do fae eat when sick? What reminds them of home? How does cuisine differ by region or Court? I want to hear about any or all of it!

Detective Grimoire

Where to Find:
- Detective Grimoire (2.5 hours) is available via iOS, Android or Steam
- Tangle Tower (4 hours) is available via Apple Arcade, Steam or Nintendo Switch

>>> Detective Grimoire & Sally
I’m really fond of these games, especially Tangle Tower, which is just lovely. The art style is so pretty and I love a good conspiracy of rich people, plus impossible cases! Tangle Tower in particular felt like playing a Jonathan Creek episode, and as a big fan of those, it scratched a good itch.

I’m not hugely interested in Grimoire and Sally as a romantic pair, but I am happy to see either shipped with anyone else, of any gender, either in the game or new characters. However, I have a few prompts that refer to them getting romantically tangled and it not working it out, which I’m very up for! Equally, sexual tension between them that gets resolved by realising, when they try to do something about it, that they aren’t actually into it, is always great fun.

Also, since mysteries are a bugger and a half to write, if you go in that direction, please feel free to pastiche other detective shows, even if I’m requested/written them before. I’m a serial rewatcher of shows like Agatha Christie’s Marple, Jonathan Creek and Columbo, so seeing the same mystery twice is never a problem.

Quick prompts: New cases! How they became partners! Missing stories from their investigation at Tangle Tower! More exploration of the society Penelope belonged to! Crossovers!

Those same prompts, in more detail:
- New cases is a big old can of worms to open! I would be up for pretty much any plots, as outlined above, but more unique locations, returning to old locations and unearthing new evidence, cases that refer directly to character backstories for either of them, or bring out their flaws and foibles are all great.
- Between the first and second game, Sally goes from a suspect to Grimoire’s closest aide! She also goes from a bored, sarcastic summer jobber to someone with a lot more motivation and gumption, and I love the idea that it’s because she’s found her passion with mysteries. I would love, love, love to see their friendship develop. How did they keep in touch from the first case? Did Grimoire try to date her, only for them to realise they would make great business partners but bad partners?
- Or! Perhaps there was a new case, something much closer to home for Sally and her much stronger motivation to solve this case has her calling Grimoire in, when they realise they work well together? Or, perhaps it’s that she has some set of skills that makes Grimoire realise he needs her to help him on his next case?
- I liked Detective Grimoire, but Tangled Tower is definitely a world I wanted to spend more time in (no offence to the swamp!), not least because of its absolutely stunning art. But the characters and their relationships, all rife with tension and secrets and fraught attempts to bridge gaps? Oh yes, that’s exactly where I like to live. I’d love to spend more time there, seeing things from Grimoire and Sally’s perspective, as outsiders looking in on the bizarre and dysfunctional two families living in the Tower. Rehashing canon plot points works for me, but unearthing new stories is very welcome too. Add new complications, drill down on existing ones, have characters who didn’t interact in the canon interact now, wherever you want to go, I’ll go with you.
- Who doesn’t love a secret society? They are awesome, especially when someone becomes obsessed and hellbent, like Penelope <3 Who, yes, I just adore. Have her kidnap Sally or Grimoire (and sexually menace either or both, either in a sexy way or a noncon way…?), have her escape at the last minute and allow Sally and Grimoire to give chase by uncovering more secrets, or have them find out that the way they thought it works, isn’t quite what it seems. If you want to introduce magical elements at this point, I would also be very up for that. Speculative stuff is always fun! But keeping it grounded would be cool.
- I would be extremely into crossovers for this with anything I’ve ever requested or written. But some ideas to get started:
- - The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow (is Penelope part of the secret society in that novel?).
- - A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny (they investigate a murder that’s taken place in the lead-up to the big night and realise there is something much, much bigger going on).
- - Dimension 20: The Unsleeping City (they stumble upon a mystery that opens them up to discovering an unsleeping city somewhere! Doesn’t need to be New York or these characters, but it could be!).
- - Stardew Valley (a mystery in Pelican Town! Is it monster-related, or mundane but still a locked-room? How do Sally & Grimoire get on with the villagers?).
- - Hilda (a cosy mystery meets…trolls? I think this could be cute, especially art-wise!).
- - Pretty Little Liars (I mean, mysteries abound here and everyone is lying).
But again, these are just some ideas to get started — if you have an idea for any other fandom I’ve requested or written, or even indicated I’ve liked, go for it! Fusions or crossovers are both welcome.

Harry Potter

>>> Lucius/Lily

This is a bit of an odd ship, I know, but it is one of my favourite HP rare pairs for whatever reason. I’m a real sucker for Slytherin-Gryffindor relationships, what can I say. I like my Lily to be sure-footed and frank, with a lot of force behind her, but possibly a little naive or inexperienced. And Lucius is just…yeah, his whole can of worms.

I’m struggling to get into specifics with the blurb here, mostly because there’s a lot of different ways I could see this working — most of which are covered by my prompts. And because there’s so little content for them, my interpretation is fairly flexible, so I’m happy to see your spin on their relationship.

Futzing with canon ages to make it easier to get them together (especially so not to hit my under-16 DNW) is absolutely fine, as is messing with the canon timelines. For either of their canon relationships, do what you like with them. Same goes for background pairings! I’m really not picky in that regard.

I prefer one or both of them developing feelings — or, similarly, one of them getting over the other just as the other begins to develop feelings. Any combo is fine, I just don’t want it to be just casual. They can hate their feelings, wish they didn’t have them, try to disguise them, they can be new and blossoming so little understood etc. as long as there are some feelings of a kind. But I’m also very happy, as always, for you to break them up if they do both develop feelings, or it to end tragically or terribly. Given Lucius’ politics, it’s just never going to be great and I am here for all that messiness.

Quick prompts: Spying! Double-crossing! Teacher/student! Time travel! Regrettable or guilt-laden infidelity! Arranged marriage! Identity porn! Capture! Soulmates! Secret relationships! A/B/O!

Those same prompts, in more detail:
- Lily is spying for the Order and disguising herself as a Pureblood. But the mission starts to go really side-ways — either because she gets involved with Lucius, or getting involved with Lucius is a way for her to cover her tracks.
- Lucius double-crosses the Dark Lord, either for personal gain or to protect someone (could even be Narcissa). Lily acts as his handler, and they must learn to trust each other, even if it kills them.
- Because of his father’s status on the school board, Lucius returns shortly after graduating to teach at Hogwarts, maybe as a Occlumency tutor. Lily is a very persistent and annoying student. Maybe they’re both surprised by what they see in each other’s minds.
- Lucius goes back in time for ~reasons (ordered by the Dark Lord, to fix some issue that results from a past decision, by complete accident etc.) in circumstances that lead to him having to stick close to Lily.
- Mmm infidelity! I like this in pretty much all the flavours. Do they sleep together while drunk, or is it a fighting-leads-to-fucking type of deal, or maybe even a Fuck or Die scenario that they feel deep shame about? All the guilt, all the shame, all the self-hate, all the "fuck how did this happen again", it’s good stuff.
- Arranged marriage is always a fun trope, especially because I cannot imagine these two would do well forced into marriage together. Let’s see that friction!
- Masquerade balls, secret handlers, polyjuice potion, curses, personas etc. There’s a lot of identity porn to go round and it’s all very very good.
- Lucius is captured by the Order and Lily is very surprised by him when she has to spend more time with him. Or he continues to be a complete shit even in close quarters but that’s intriguing in its own way.
- Or Lily is captured. Noncon or dub con, The Dark Lord Made Them Do It, sexual menacing, finding strange comfort in each other etc. are all lovely possibilities.
- I could go for them being each other’s soulmates and having that horrible realisation. I like that kind of stuff when there’s a lot of panic and denial or hatred and bitterness, especially given their relative positions and politics, before circumstances force them to give in — or they feel drawn to each other by fate. Hate-fucking is good, as is one of them beginning to pine and give in while the other tries to hold strong. They can eventually give in — or maybe they reject their soulmate entirely and that leads to lots of angst.
- Or Lily is Lucius’ soulmate but he is not hers. There’s lots of options here: shame at having a Muggle soulmate that he can overcome, or that eats him inside and makes him even more terrible. Noncon as he lashes out about it. Or perhaps he just internalises it, hiding it and stewing on it. Does Lily find out by accident, in that circumstance? What is her reaction?
- I love a good secret relationship. What reasons would Lily agree to such a thing? Do they meet through Severus or the Slug Club? Or is it post-Hogwarts, where they accidentally fall into something before realising their on opposite sides of the lines? Messy breakups, codependency, terrible decision making, it’s all delicious stuff.
- A/B/O or heat cycles of any kind are really hot and fun! Lily as an omega and Lucius as either a beta or alpha is my slight preference, but I’d also be up for Lily being the alpha! For heat cycles that are non-A/B/O-related, either of them going into heat or rut is lovely. I could see this going a few ways: going into heat at inopportune times, closed quarters while in heat, taking advantage of the other while they are desperate, or being surprisingly helpful in hiding the other’s unexpected heat/rut!

A Night in the Lonesome October

Canon-Specific DNW:
Sex or romance between human and animal companions

Where to Find:
Single book of 280 pages, with 31 chapters that correspond to each day of October.

>>> Jack & Snuff
>>> Graymalk & Snuff
>>> Graymalk & Jack & Crazy Jill & Snuff

A man and his dog, a dog and his cat friend, a cat and her crazy cat lady owner <3 I love this book so much. I read it for the first time last year, but I’m planning now to reread it every October, because what joy to be able to read a chapter a day over the spookiest month! I love all the zany and tropey characters, the escalations through the nights, but even more I loved the companions and their relationships with each other. I love the tension as we get closer to the big day, and trying to puzzle out who is an opener and a closer.

I’m open to Graymalk/Snuff or Jill/Jack content, but I would rather no explicit on-the-page sexual content for the animals. I also love non-sexual but codependent relationships between companions and their respective owners.

Quick prompts: The next time they have to close the door! A different world disaster! Jack’s knife! How does modernisation affect the characters, presuming they live long enough? A player is missing! What kind of contact do they keep outside of the Game? Past games with Jack & Snuff!

Those same prompts, in more detail:
- Do any of these characters meet again, next time a door is due to open? How does the game change in each playthrough, and what new characters are introduced? I’d love some development of the existing relationships, especially stuff that hints at things that have happened since the book’s door event.
- So we know about the door trying to open…are there other supernatural disasters that occasionally spring up? I would love for it to use elements from any of the player’s respective expy-histories, or other spooky literature. So, Van Helsing perhaps turns up, ill-informed and hellbent on taking down some of the players. Or one of the places Jack & Snuff (or Jill & Graymalk) move to is the Hill House! Or the Pandemonium Shadow Show turns up in town… Take any elements you like from any horror or spec fic, and feel free to bastardise them as Zelazny did — or play them straight!
- I love the supernatural element of Jack’s knife, for instance, and would love to understand more about it. Where did it come from? How much control does he have when the frenzy takes him, like it did at the vivisectionists? How does it map onto our understanding of Jack the Ripper?
- Alright, so we know Jack is extremely old… Presuming the other players have some immortality if they don’t die during the game, what happens with modernisation and how does that affect the game? Is it harder to keep secrets, when people can check the internet? Is it easier to mobilize, when you can put a call out to your Closers? Or does it remain firmly in the pre-technology days, dogged in tradition as the game seems to be? Or, does one player attempt to modernise the game? And if so, do they succeed or fail?
- A player never turns up as expected, and now the game is uneven. What happens then? How do Jack and Snuff work to rectify this? I especially would like to see this being a Closer character, since then it’s a mad scramble to ensure they have enough people, especially once people start offing each other.
- Or, alternatively, a player goes unaccounted for in the game — either because nobody realises at first that they are playing, or because they go missing through the game. I like Snuff and Graymalk, and perhaps their owners, trying to work out the mini-mysteries as the nights wear on.
- "What kind of contact do they keep outside of the Game?" is a pretty straight-forward prompt, I think! I don’t have much to elaborate, I would just love to see how they keep in touch — or if they don’t, and have only the next game to reunite.
- I’m always up for seeing the past games that Snuff and Jack have played — clearly, it’s been a lot! I would love to see it.

>>> Worldbuilding
>>> Original Opener or Closer Characters

I love the hyper-focus of this book, but I also would adore some fic that explores the world presented. I’ve gone with Original Opener or Closer characters, but if you want to use one or more of the characters in the books, go for it!

I’ve given prompts, but I really am wide open. If you have an idea or an avenue in the book you want to explore that I haven’t spoken about here, please run with it. If you don’t want to use any characters for your idea, that’s also very very possible. But I would also be very pleased with any of my prompts. I’m easy!

Also open to ships of any kind, as long as they aren’t owner/companion but if you want to go a codependent or creepy or whatever route there, that’s also fine, as long as it isn’t the sex or romance in my DNW.

Quick prompts: Any past games, from the perspective of other characters involved in the game. New games in the future. Does Jack ever retire and pass down the mantle? Are there any apprenticeships? Weapons worldbuilding! How did this game come to be? When was the very first game? What marks people as game players? And what does the openers winning look like?

Those same prompts, in more detail:
- Same as above, I would love to see past games! Maybe Jack and Snuff are there, but even if so, a new, fresh POV could be really fun. What are they like for other Closers? And, what are they like on the Opening side?
- I especially would love to see some motivations behind wanting to be an Opener. Why do they choose that side? What kind of stories lead up to someone wanting to bring about the end of the world?
- New games are also fun — as I mentioned, I’d quite like to see how games might change, either by setting them in the very, very distant past, or the present day (or in the far, far future!).
- I would also be very up to seeing them set in a different country or locale.
- Apprenticeships would be interesting — how do people pass down their skills? That seems less important for the Openers but vitally important for the Closers, especially if someone like Jack might retire from the Game, as he seems to hold the whole thing together. Is there are any training? Or how do people understand their place and what to do?
- Weapons world building — as mentioned above, I’d love to see the origins of Jack’s knife, how he came to have it, what it means in the greater context of the world. I’d also be up for seeing any other character’s weapons, including for original characters. Acquisition, how they get made, if they start off enchanted, what sets them apart, etc. Etc.
- The very first Game! How did this all start, who was the Opener who decided to give it a go, and how did the first Closer react?
- How and why do people get drawn into the Game? The Opener stuff is covered above, perhaps, but I’d also like to see how Closers come to hear about the Game and decide to play. Is there a calling? Is it a sixth sense? We get the idea that a lot of this is sensed — Jack and Snuff are always waiting for things to present themselves. I would love to hear more about that, and how the other humans (or non-humans) feel these things.
- I don’t have much elaboration on this on, I’d just be interested in the post-Opener world, dark though it may be. This might be one suited well to be without characters, I’d love to see or read about the landscape or what it means.
