Let’s get through this madness together! I’m really excited. I have a lot of rambly-ass prompts below — sorry! I was in some kind of mood while writing a lot of this letter and got overly specific, but none of it is meant to hem you in. Every part of them is changeable and can be used as a jumping off point, it’s not intended to be prescriptive (but if you want to follow them to the letter, that’s also fine!)

And, as always, please feel free to ignore them completely if anything from any of my likes strikes you (or — if you have a feeling I might enjoy something that isn’t here, you can absolutely go off and I’ll surely love to follow you down whichever rabbit hole, as long as it doesn’t hit my DNWs).

Art Likes

I like a wide variety of art! Yeah, very helpful, I know, but I really do! Bold colours, black & white/greyscale, jewel tones, dark neons, pixel art etc.

I love interesting compositions and perspectives, and shots that feel like the characters were caught in the moment — intimacy, basically. I really like dark and angsty or intimate and intense vibes, or any kind of creeping dread or tentative atmospheres.

I love size differences emphasised in less traditional ways: the larger partner kneeling in front of the smaller one; big muscular women with huge hands clutching their smaller partner; small love interests threatening their bigger partner etc. But I also like the traditional ways too, with men with large hands holding their smaller partner, people leaning down to kiss their partner, the smaller person up on tip toes to kiss their partner etc. etc.

Size difference isn’t all I like, though! I also like intimacy in all its forms (sexual or non-sexual), interesting lighting, things that look both dangerous and sexy, anyone kneeling for anything, hand-holding (in any circumstance, but especially in sex), blood, characters who can’t bare to look at the person giving them pleasure, torture scenes, and anything that shows angst. Small moments of intimacy captured in larger stories is nice. Hurt/comfort is always, always a winner. But also, I don’t know dick about art, so whatever you think is best probably is!

I don’t have specific art-related DNWs. Any rating is fine, also.

I hope my prompts below are useful for comics-based stories too, but as I’m still pretty new to prompting for art, take whatever liberties you want to. You know better what works than I do!

The Folk of the Air - Holly Black

Where to Find This Canon:
3 books: The Cruel Prince (385 pages), The Wicked King (369 pages) and The Queen of Nothing (321 pages), for a total of 1,075 pages.
There is also supplemental material in the form of a novelette and a novella, respectively: The Lost Sisters (from Taryn’s perspective, 49 pages) and How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories (post-canon, Cardan’s POV, 138 pages).
All page counts approximate and based on ebooks. The audiobooks for all are great too.

These two are my perennial faves. I will never tire of content for them, of new angles, of new areas of interest. Below are prompts stolen from other other letters of mine, but feel free to have a look through my any of old letters; there are a lot of prompts to be found (but please only use DNWs from this one!).

I love them both with all my heart. They are both messy, self-destructive, and so stubborn it’s unreal. I love that Jude would burn the world down to get what she wants. I love that Cardan uses cruelty and sometimes viciousness to protect his soft heart. I love how many bad choices they make; I love how long it takes for them to make a good choice in each other. And I especially love that, in terms of power dynamics, whoever has the most hard power in any scene between them almost always has the least soft power in that moment.

I love them in any era, though I have a soft spot for Cruel Prince-era Jude/Cardan, when the loathing (and self-loathing) is at its highest, and Wicked King, when Jude has power of him and they have such an uneasy truce (and also the hottest sex scene. “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.” uuuugh my heart). Post-canon is cool too: I love what we see in the novella, so if you want to build on that, please do. If you want to find a different angle for them post-canon, you do that! Heck, want to break them up painfully or suffer infidelity or have one of them die tragically? I’m there with bells on. And I’m equally pleased by soft cute endings where they actually learn to be whole people around each other.

Whatever strikes you, you go for it, but I have provided prompts below in case you want them! But honestly, I’ll eat anything you have for them up with a spoon.

- PWP — this is my “10k of PWP is excellent” prompt, basically, although plotty porn is also more than welcome. I will never tire of character-driven sex between them. Noncon is great, dub con is swell, consent is tasty. Sex pollen, hatesex, terrifyingly intimate and pine-creating sex, confinement leading to sex, fuck or die, Jude being “gifted” to Cardan, public sex, ritual sex, etc. Etc. Or post-married life, them discovering kinks together, could also be cute!
- Rule 63 — Jude or Cardan (or both) being genderswapped could be interesting. How does their upbringing change, if they are not male or female respectively? How does their understanding of their attraction to each change?
- Soulmate AU — I especially like written words. Do only fae or only mortals get them? What might one of them do to try and rid themselves of the mark? How do they hide it? Does one of them see it at an inopportune moment?
- Hurt/Comfort — They are well-placed for this! I especially like this during The Cruel Prince or The Wicked King, when they both have so many walls up with each other and are trying to negotiate around them without actually communicating that. Hurt that is also caused by the same person comforting is always welcome, too, as is emotional H/C.
- Betrayal — I love betrayal between these two so, so much. It’s so juicy and full of angst. Please feel free to make it permanent, or just as dark and shitty as you want. Or, show them learning to work through it because they have to, even if they hate it <33 They are just so much fun to watch suffer.
- Curses — One of them gets hit with some kind of new curse, and they have to scramble to deal with it. This could be fun for Wicked King or post-canon era, I think!
- Pregnancy — I would love to see Jude deal with pregnancy. This could be accidental and during canon, or it could be post-canon. If you want the curse Cardan underwent to cause havoc and result in something sinister (I.e. If you want to make it horror) I’m very much for it, but as am I for Jude vying for power with a baby bump and a hormones galore. If it’s accidental and during canon, I would love any angst associated (and abortions or miscarriages are something I’m interested in, if that mood struck you). Would she try to hide it for as long as possible? How would Cardan react when he finds out?

>>> Taryn/Nicasia

So as probably becomes clear over the course of this letter, I’m kind of a sucker for rare pairs that have very little content (as well as my more mainstream loves, see above!). The Folk of the Air didn’t escape that pattern :D

I love Taryn so much, I find her both interesting as a foil for Jude and compelling in her own right. The Lost Sisters, in particular, really opened my eyes to her motivations and the way she has made herself so adaptable and bendable to survive — including doing terrible things for the sake of someone she wants affection from. I love that kind of character. I love, too, when she grows teeth and starts to forge her own path, in her own way. Good for her!

And Nicasia is both terrifying and so sympathetic, in that it’s obvious how much she is hurting at times over the course of the trilogy. And oh boy, does she make that hurting other people’s problems. Plus, uh, I kind of have a weakness for mean girls.

For art, race headcanons for either character is more than welcome, as is any interpretations of both character look and setting. I’m a sucker for underwater stuff, but I also imagine it’s a bugger to draw so you do you :3

I have some prompts for these two in past letters, and I have some prompts below, but there’s very little content for them so go wild!

- PWP — My “10k of PWP is excellent” prompt, at any level of consent. Gangbangs with a dub- or nonconned Taryn where we see it from Nicasia’s perspective are also welcome, but sex just between the two of them is mostly what I had in mind. I imagine Nicasia to be absolutely vicious in bed, but maybe there is some surprising tenderness to be found?
- Soulmate AU — I prefer words on skin for this. When do they find out? How does Nicasia feel about ugh a mortal of all beings turning out to be here soulmate?
- Seduction — Sometime in The Wicked Prince or the Queen of Nothing, Madoc sends Taryn to the Undersea to “negotiate”, using Nicasia as her “in” with Oriana. Or maybe Taryn tries to trade sex for information on her sister.
- Burying the Bodies — Nicasia turns up the night that Taryn murders Locke. With no one else to turn to, Taryn tries to get her to help. Does Nicasia help? Does she help but betray her later? What are Nicasia’s feelings towards seeing Locke dead? How does Taryn deal with the emotional comedown of killing her abuser? Does she trust Nicasia or see it as a means to an end?
- Revenge — Nicasia is angry about Locke leaving her, so she decides to try and snatch his new beau off of him — whether that be via seduction, or noncon, or purposefully trying to meddle in their relationship which causes one or both of them to accidentally develop feelings for the other.
- Captivity — Or, in jealousy, Nicasia kidnaps Taryn and keeps her locked up somewhere. All that time spent around each other causes some Feelings…although they might well just be Stockholm/Lima syndrome.
- Mortal World — Nicasia needs to do ~something in the mortal world, and hires Taryn to help, begrudgingly.
- Hurt/Comfort — I love cross-species hurt/comfort, especially if it brings into contrast their biology or appreciation for the other’s body. Either of them having to be forced to be gentle with the other is fun.

Bridgerton

Where to Find This Canon:
TV show, Netflix. 10 episodes of 60-80 minutes each.

So Lady Danbury is probably my favourite character, and her little interaction where she teases Benedict over the art mishap was enough for my shippy little heart. I want to see them flirt up a storm, maybe have a few rendezvous (because Danbury is long past caring about propriety), maybe accidentally develop a few feelings. All the while Danbury teases the heck out of Benedict, and he’s all flustered and artistic and shit. It doesn’t help that Lady Danbury is gorgeous and funny and Benedict is such a loveable fop, or that I love older woman/younger man scenarios.

Plus, who doesn’t love all those outfits? Speaking of which: I don’t care either way about historical accuracy. If it’s something you care about? Go for it! But if not, you get on with your anachronisms, I swear I won’t notice. That includes any outfits for art — the show didn’t mind on that front and nor do I. If you want to stick with the fashion from canon, I love that, but I’m also open to you putting your own flair (or, if you do care about this stuff, making it accurate!).

For art (and fic, I suppose!), please keep Lady Danbury black. If you want to go with a race headcanon for Benedict, though, feel free.

I’m down with however you want to handle canonical partners (be it infidelity, break ups, ignoring them), but I do like the idea of both these characters being bisexual if it comes up.

Or however you see this going, I would just love to see fic for it!

There is little content for these two (just two fabulous gifts I got in the past) so I’ll honestly eat up anything you serve, but I have prompts if you want them!

- PWP — This is just my general “10k of PWP is fantastic” prompt, especially any PWP that explores their characters. I like her in a more dominant fashion where it matters, but I can definitely be convinced of otherwise by the right fic!
- Patron — She becomes his patron to encourage his art, and they begin to spend a lot more time together. Perhaps he comes to realise what a good eye she has?
- Zombie AU — Look, I kind of had the thought “regency zombie apocalypse” for these two and now I’m stuck on it. Equally, vampires or ghosts could be fun? It’s the spooky season, why not!!
- Hurt/Comfort — Lady Danbury has taken ill, and Benedict comes to aide her, perhaps staying with her for a few weeks and helping her to recover because he’s just that kind and not, of course, because he finds himself loathe to leave her company.
- Emotional Hurt/Comfort — Benedict is heartbroken over someone, and Lady Danbury steps in to comfort.
- Finding Solace — A kind of vignette series or a 5+1 things that covers them being bored at balls and events and finding entertainment in each other (perhaps it starts off platonic or just lightly flirtatious but builds from there).
- Fake Dating(ish) — At a party, someone isn’t taking Benedict’s hints, so Lady Danbury steps in to pretend to be his suitor, and it goes from there.
- Murder Mystery AU — I am always, always down for murder mysteries, so if a character has been murdered and they investigate together (or are under suspect from a Miss Marple-style characters), I’d love that.
- False Gossip — Lady Whistledown prints some false gossip about them. I don’t know what happens after that!

Pretty Little Liars

Where to Find This Canon:
TV show, Netflix has it in most regions. 7 seasons, 20-25 episodes a season.

I love Pretty Little Liars way, way too much. It is my not-so-guilty pleasure. A big part of that is the powerhouse that is Mona Vanderwaal. I love her obsessions, her addictive personality, her absolute force-of-nature self. The line “Oh, that was three personalities ago,” in season 2 always feels like the point in which I fell head over heels for her, honestly.

I love her relationship with all the other characters, but I especially like seeing her butt up against Hanna, Caleb and Spencer. I love that she loves Hanna so goddamn much that she’d run her over for it, I love that Spencer is smart enough to really challenge her and I love how much searing chemistry there is between she & Caleb from how much they dislike each other. And also all of these combinations are extremely hot, so that helps.

I like all aspects of the show. I like when it’s super gothic, I like when it’s super camp, I like when it hits some surprisingly emotional notes about growing up as a teenage girl while having your agency stripped from you. Any explorations of these elements of the show are welcome and will be well-received, but this is not an exhaustive list! Also, I don’t mind how you handle canonical romances on the show: ignore them, have them be in the past, have people cheating on each other, have them die, whatever you want to do, go for it.

Basically, go with your heart, but if your heart isn’t sure, here are some prompts to get started!

- Revisiting Trauma — Thinking they’ve finally gotten past the horror of their youth, much to their surprise, one of them receives a very suspect package that throws them back into the game.
- Heists — Big or Uber A is forcing them to steal something, Mona is the obvious person to turn to for help. Heists are always fun!
- Pregnancy — One of them is pregnant and alone, the other(s) come to the rescue. (Please no breeding kink, but everything post-conception is fine by me, including miscarriage or abortion.)
- Hurt/Comfort — H/C is so good on this show, there are plenty of opportunities for people to get hurt — and to be comforted by the very person who hurt them! I’m a sucker for that. Emotional or physically hurt are both wonderful.
- Movie AUs — Throw these folks into a pastiche of a noir or gothic or screwball comedy that the Rosewood theatre would almost certainly be showing. Laura, Double Indemnity, The Lady Vanishes, It Happened One Night, Strangers on a Train — hell, if you can work out how to fit them into Rope, I’m also here for that.
- Vampire AUs — Supernatural elements are always welcome for this canon and it’s honestly bizarre it didn’t end up going in that direction with the whole Ravenswood backdoor pilot. Let’s give Mona some fangs and see what trouble she can cause with them :D
- Witches or Craft AUs — these are also more than welcome. As is crossing it over with something like the Fear Street Trilogy.
- Hanna/Mona/Caleb-Specific — I’d love to see Mona & Caleb trying to reach an uneasy truce because Hanna loves them both, but struggling. Watching them compete in any way (inc. through three-way sex) or antagonise each other is fun, as is watching them try to come to terms with each other. Whether they succeed or not is up to you (as is ambiguous endings).
- Noncon/Dubcon — Always great for any of these characters. Hidden identity, angry possessive rape, sex pollen, altered states, under-negotiated kinks, manipulation, any way you want to shake it, I’m here for it.
- PWP — In general, this is my “go ahead!” for 10k of PWP if you want it! I’m always up for these characters getting down and dirty with each other, at any level of consent. I do especially like it as a character study but anything works.

Kim’s Convenience

Ahhhh okay so I never expected this ship. Then season 4 came along and just completely threw me headfirst into shipping them like burning. The kiss was, for starters, so good, but the almost-kiss in the kitchen earlier that episode? Superb! Him talking to her in Korean? UGH.

So obviously I was a little heartbroken that Season 5 brushes it all under the rug, with just one mention of it and Janet (not sure how but I’m sure she could) to participate in said threesome. Annnnd during this slightly awkward threesome, Janet and Gerald kind of realise they have ~feelings for each other. Chelsea/Janet/Gerald is okay for this one.

Over the Garden Wall

Where to Find This Canon:
In the UK, this is on Netflix. Everywhere else, it can be bought on AppleTV. 10 episodes, 10 minutes each.

This show is such a masterpiece. I rewatched it for Halloween and caught so many cute details I completely missed before (like Gregory leaning on Endicott’s grave in the flashback when they are spying on Sara and friends telling stories in the cemetery!), and I’m sure I’ll catch a lot of new details next time too. It is as close to perfect a story as can be, IMO, and I would absolutely adore anything that takes place in this world.

I love the spooky vibes. It’s also amazing how quickly it made me care about these one-off characters, by giving them such specific and unexpected traits, histories and/or quirks, and how much music plays a big part in everything. I really like how much it lives up to the premise that not everything is as it seems, and I enjoy the fucked up art sometimes. Auntie Whispers is my favourite episode, and what a terrifying visage she is to look upon, and what a perfect choice Tim Curry was <3

I’m honestly open to any exploration of the characters or world you have on your mind, but I do have some prompts as well if you want them! For art, as far as style goes, I love the art style of the show but am very open to any interpretations of cute and spooky that work for you.

- Crossovers — Crossovers with any canon I have ever requested or written for! Introduce any characters from these canons into the world of Over the Garden Wall, and see how they deal with it all. Do they encounter the same characters as Gregory and Wirt but experience them differently, or do they encounter entirely different sets of characters and areas of the woods?
- New Places & People — Gregory and Wirt discover new parts of the forest. This one is a bit vague, but there’s all sorts I’d be up for: haunted-esque houses, woodland creature societies, places filled with actual ghosts, wolves that turn out to be men in the day or have been cursed into wolf form, ancient and strange barrows filled with old, grumpy kings, finding a King Knut-style figure who is trying to stop the inevitable, a garden filled with plants that look like people, lairs in the middle of lakes…I’m sure there’s a lot more out there to play with!
- Post-Canon Relationship Development — I do have some curiosity on how Greg and Wirt’s relationship develops, especially post-show. How does Wirt in particular grow and come to respect his brother? Does Greg change at all after their experience?
- Future Fic — When Gregory and Wirt next find themselves on the other side, but this time, they are much older and it is for good.
- Beatrice — Exploration of Beatrice and her family, and what happened to them following.
- Chance Encounters — Could it be that someone is tracking Gregory & Wirt through the other side from their “real” life? Or do they meet anyone they knew who died in real life?
- “We Have to Go Back” — Okay I’m definitely not just saying this because he’s voiced by Christopher Lloyd, but could the Woodsman turn up back in their real lives and inform them that something terrible is happening on the other side and they need to come back because Something is Happening? (A la the last scene of the first Back to the Future movie lol)
